Ep. 14: Creating Music That Heals & Awakens | Nick Mulvey
In this week’s episode I catch up with gifted musician and singer-songwriter Nick Mulvey who’s music has always spoken directly to my soul. Nick was a founding member of Mercury Prize nominated band Portico Quartet until 2011 when he left to pursue his solo career, releasing his first studio album First Mind in 2014 which earned him another Mercury Prize nomination. His 2017 album ‘Wake Up Now’ saw him shift gear and start to examine our social and political climate through his poignant and beautiful lyrics. Through his music Nick continues to examine how we are living and what it means to be truly alive. As always, he continues to spread joy and warmth around the world - something we could all do with right now.
In this episode we explore:
- How Nick’s intention for his music has evolved over the years
The creative process involved in making music that moves people
How Nick came to collaborate with East Forest for the re-work of “Please Pass The Bliss”
Nick’s journey to finding his voice and letting himself be truly seen on stage
The power of storytelling
The importance of connecting to nature in light of accelerating climate change and the rapid decline in biodiversity
And so much more…
I really hope you enjoy our conversation. If you do, please take a moment to subscribe and review.
